Welcome to my first Blog!

Aloha,

Thank you for stopping by to check out my new blog! I'm still learning how to do this, so I promise you it will only get better as time goes by.

I thought I would start a blog because I wanted to share some interesting aspects of my life with you. I get Emails, Tweets and Facebook messages asking me about my work at FOX 11 news, where to visit in Hawaii (my hometown), how it feels to be a mom again and even about my wardrobe! So I thought this would be a great way to share "Maria's Earth" with you.

First of all, as I write this, the biggest adventure of my life right now is moving around like CRAZY in my tummy. Well, technically in my uterus. lol! I'm 35 weeks pregnant with my second child.  Although, it definitely feels like my first, all over again. Some of you may already know that I have an older son who is now 23 years old. (I wanted to avoid any possible sibling rivalry! lol!)
Seriously though, I had my son Desmond at a very young age. It's very difficult to raise a baby when you're still a kid yourself. I was 17 and still a senior in high school when I found out I was pregnant. It was a difficult decision to make, but my baby's father and I decided to keep our baby and do the best we could. We got married but realized quickly that we were far too young to be married, not mention parents. But, with the help and support of our families, we were able to raise our son and managed to pursue our careers at the same time. I can't tell you it was easy, but it can be done. I try to counsel as many young teen moms and dads who are suddenly faced with early challenges like mine, that it doesn't necessarily mean your hopes and dreams will be pushed to the wayside. It just means you'll have to work all the much harder to achieve your dreams and goals while raising a young life. If I can do it, so can you!

I met my husband a few years ago and fell in love. And sometimes, when you fall in love, you want to start a family. We are very blessed to be having a baby. I'm much older and wiser now so I'm looking forward to the different experience.

Yes, pregnancy this time around for me is much much different than the first. I'll go into it in more detail on my next blog!

In the meantime, thank you for stopping by. Hope you will subscribe and comment when you feel like it. Give me tips and advice if you have some to share.

  3. Thank you for starting a blog and for being so open & real. We all see you on TV and for some reason we are so curious about much more than what we see on TV. I love blogs, I like getting to know people and read their different view and varying subjects. I look forward to hearing what you have to share.
    God Bless

About Me

My photo
Los Angeles & Honolulu, California & Hawaii, United States
You can see me every day, giving you your daily weather forecast on the FOX 11 at 6am, 10am and Noon news in Los Angeles, CA. That's not all, many times I also anchor the news as well as fill in on Good Day L.A. between 7 and 10am. Yes, I wear many hats at FOX, but that's not the most important job I have. The most important job I have is to be the best mom to my children. Yes "children". After 23 years, I am now embarking on a new journey of being mom for the 2nd time. While my oldest son is enjoying adulthood, my husband and I are getting ready for son #2. It's definitely a different experience this time around. I hope to share all my experiences of work, motherhood (the 2nd time aroun) and life around the west coast on my blog. I hope you'll feel free to ask me any questions or comment on any subject that I happen to explore. And believe me, there will be plenty!
